Manifesto

Efiko Academy

“Coral reefs are one of nature’s most beautiful creations. Man has not figured out how to create them. What we do know is we can care for them and nurture them to survive and thrive or kill them through neglect and abuse. The same is true for culture.”

IMPACT IS THE NEW NORMAL.

Human associations of all kinds need to be accountable for their effects on people and planet and work towards achieving a sustainable, fair and happy world – for us and for our grand grand children.

IT ISN’T A NATURAL THING.

Achieving positive impacts requires more than good intentions only. It requires education and experience to appreciate the needs of society, stakeholders and our ecosystems. Impact Education is as critical for the XXIst century as Business Education was for the XXth century.

ONE-SIZE FITS NOBODY.

There are as many learning styles as there are colours in a rainbow. We believe in the power of personalising learning experiences to the context and profile of learners and giving the opportunity to learn in many different ways.

WE NEED MORE HUMMINGBIRDS.

Our planet is on fire and our society increasingly divided. We can’t afford to sit back and look with despair. Like the Hummingbird, everyone can do what it/he/she can to contribute to positive change. Grassroot organisations matter as much as large and global ones.

THE POWER OF DIVERSITY.

We believe in the power of bringing voices from various walks of life together to tackle our common problems. Diversity is an imperative to move away from biased solutions and erroneous understandings of problems. It empowers us to effectively tackle a wide array of issues.

EDUCATION SHOULD BE AFFORDABLE.

Learning from the people who have wisdom and experience to share should not be the privilege of a happy few. Everyone deserves access to quality education, regardless of social, economic or cultural background. This also counts for impact education.

I HEAR AND I REMEMBER. I DO AND I UNDERSTAND.

Online education should be everything but a passive, hands-off experience. It is by applying what you hear to your own reality and interacting with others that you truly understand the value of what you have learned.
